Our Syllabus
Our Music Monsters’ syllabus has been carefully crafted to be fun but progressive and very effective. All Music Monsters’ teachers hold degrees in music and/or education, and have been trained extensively in the delivery of our classes.
Music Monsters has four levels:
- – Piano Monsters Juniors
- – Piano Monsters
- – Piano Monsters Pros
- – Piano Monsters 8-11s
Piano Monsters Juniors | 3 years
An early introduction to music lessons! Each 30-minute class is built around a different story. We complete challenges, play games, and then play along to the story at the end of the class. Each child will have their own keyboard, and these classes have been written as a joint activity between you and your little one.
We introduce lots of musical ideas, including:
- – Beating in time
- – Understanding rhythm
- – Reading music
- – Finger strengthening
- – Musical terms and language
- – Singing and pitching
- – Improvising
- – Keyboard Skills
These classes are fun! We want your children to love music, as this creates the perfect condition for them to learn.
Piano Monsters | 4-7 years
An inspiring way to learn to play the piano! Taught in small groups of up to 7 children plus grown-ups, Piano Monsters is jam-packed with games, challenges, and hidden-learning.
All children will receive a Piano Monsters book, containing all of the activities and sheet music that they will need to learn from – allowing them to continue the learning at home.
We work through lots of musical skills, including:
- – Beating in time
- – Understanding rhythm
- – Reading music
- – Playing with both hands independently
- – Finger strengthening
- – Musical terms and language
- – About different composers, styles and instruments
- – Singing and pitching
- – Improvising
- – Understanding and talking about music
- – Keyboard skills
These classes progress children quickly, but they have no idea they are even learning!
Piano Monsters Pros | 4-7 Years
4-7 years who have completed Piano Monsters
This is our advanced programme, building on and developing the skills learnt during their first year of learning. Children will now start to work towards their ABRSM Prep Test, an introductory exam set by a world-renowned examining board.
We continue to learn-through-play, completing challenges and enjoying games. Students can now read music well, and have a good foundation of music theory. Piano Monsters Pros expands on this, creating awesome musicians and pianists!
